The Huawei Y5p is engineered as a highly pocketable, ultra-compact entry-level smartphone designed for users who seek dependable everyday communication, lightweight ergonomics, and essential smart features at an accessible price point. Weighing just 144 grams with a compact 146.5mm height and 8.35mm thickness, the device is powered by MediaTek's 12nm Helio P22 (MT6762R) octa-core processor, comprising four ARM Cortex-A53 performance cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and four power-saving Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.5 GHz, paired with an IMG PowerVR GE8320 graphics engine. Accompanied by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB via a dedicated microSD card slot), it handles daily tasks like calling, texting, messaging, online learning, and basic media playback running on EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10 (utilizing Huawei Mobile Services and Huawei AppGallery).
Visuals are showcased on a palm-friendly 5.45-inch HD+ FullView display (720 x 1440 pixels) with a classic 18:9 aspect ratio, 295 ppi pixel density, and a 73.8% screen-to-body ratio without any distracting notch or hole-punch cutting into the content. Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, the panel offers natural color rendition and comfortable one-handed usability. The screen incorporates TÜV Rheinland-certified Eye Comfort algorithms that effectively filter out harsh blue light emissions to reduce eye fatigue during reading sessions and nighttime browsing. Biometric authentication is handled conveniently via Intelligent AI Facial Recognition, which unlocks the device quickly upon lifting it up.
In the camera department, the rear houses an integrated matrix-styled module featuring an 8 MP primary wide camera (f/2.0 aperture, AF) equipped with an LED flash. The camera supports HDR mode, panorama, beauty mode, and continuous shooting, capturing balanced 3264 x 2448 pixel photos and recording 1080p Full HD video at 30fps. On the front, a 5 MP selfie camera (f/2.2) integrated into the top bezel handles self-portraits, video calling, and facial authentication.
Powering the smartphone is a 3020 mAh lithium-polymer battery, which, combined with Huawei's intelligent AI power-saving algorithms, delivers up to 17 hours of continuous video playback or multiple days of basic standby on a single charge. For multimedia and audio convenience, the device features a built-in FM radio, a 3.5mm audio jack, loudspeaker with Party Mode, dual-band Wi-Fi 4, Bluetooth 5.0, and microUSB 2.0. A standout practical highlight is the dedicated triple card slot, allowing users to use two 4G nano-SIM cards and a microSD card simultaneously without having to sacrifice a SIM slot. The phone is finished in an attractive, fingerprint-resistant wavy ripple texture available in Mint Green, Midnight Black, and Phantom Blue.
